Third party pimp-controlled trafficking is one of the most common trafficking methods in the United States. Taking advantage of their victims’ vulnerabilities, pimps use covert or overt control methods to groom and exploit them for profit. Several victims/survivors don’t realize they are being trafficked or even identify as a victim initially because of the emotional and psychological complexities involved with their trafficker. As providers, it’s important to keep these things in mind when working with survivors.
This presentation goes in depth on the barriers of exiting and re-entry, the complexities of third party pimp-controlled trafficking, and aftercare needs of survivors.
