Marissa Siemers

SURVIVOR SERVICES COORDINATOR

How did you first learn about and begin working with The Avery Center? How long have you been with the organization?

I started at The Avery Center as an intern through UNC in the spring of 2020, and have loved every minute of my time here! I was officially hired as Survivor Services Coordinator for The Avery Center in March of 2021.

What do you think sets The Avery Center apart from other organizations in this sector?

The Avery Center truly takes the best interest of survivors to heart and works every day to do everything they can to provide support, services, and research to survivors in the area. Not only do we remotely serve survivors nationally, but we can serve survivors face-to-face everywhere north of Denver, CO. It is truly fulfilling to be able to serve so many individuals.

What's your favorite part/the most fulfilling part of your role?

My favorite part is the relationships and friendships I've made along the way.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not at The Avery Center?

When I'm not at The Avery Center, I enjoy being at home! I am such a homebody for sure.

Who is someone you admire, and why?

I admire Dr. Angie Henderson because she inspires me to become the best version of myself.
