How did you first learn about and begin working with The Avery Center?

My daughter, who took classes from Dr. Angie Henderson, told me about the Avery Center (then Free Our Girls).

 

When did you start working with The Avery Center?

Appointed to the Board in August, 2022.


What do you think sets The Avery Center apart from other organizations in this sector?

Their research and evidence-based practices.

 

What's your favorite part/the most fulfilling part of your role?

Knowing that survivors have a space to heal and grow.

 

What do you enjoy doing when you're not at The Avery Center?

Gardening (veggies & flowers), riding my horse, Jess; enjoying all our animals (4 dogs, a cat and 2 horses), kayaking, reading, hiking.

 

Who is someone you admire, and why?

My "Aunt" Linda. She is the epitome of grace, love, and laughter; a true Christian woman.

 

What advice would you give someone who wants to join the Avery team of superstars?

Go for it! Do some good wherever you can.

 

Favorite book/audiobook/podcast:

The Outlander Series. I love historic fiction.
