How did you first learn about and begin working with The Avery Center? How long have you been with the organization?

I discovered The Avery Center through the AmeriCorps program portal and moved to Colorado for the placement. As soon as I read about the organization’s mission and met the team, I knew it was a perfect fit. I began my 12 months of service in August 2020.

What do you think sets The Avery Center apart from other organizations in this sector?

The Avery Center is exceptional for centering survivor voices. It is a leader in feminist non-profits, evidence-based programming, and anti-sex trafficking research.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not at The Avery Center?

I enjoy practicing asanas, biking, reading, and cuddling my kitty.

Who is someone you admire, and why?

I admire a cohort of powerful women and men who endorse human rights and empower individuals, including Katheryn Sikkink, Beth Simmons, Samantha Power, and Bryan Stevenson.
