Deneisha Sheffield

How did you first learn about and begin working with The Avery Center? How long have you been with the organization?

I first met up with Megan and the Avery Center about four or five years ago through the Care Package Program. When I decided to leave the life, we met up again and we started talking about my ideas and if we thought I would be a good fit for the research program!

What do you think sets The Avery Center apart from other organizations in this sector?

The fact that there are real individuals on our team that has really experienced the life or has had some type of involvement in it. I think that makes a big difference because a lot of us understand where some of these women are coming from.

What's your favorite part/the most fulfilling part of your role?

My favorite part about being here is that I'm able to help make someone's life better!!

Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about?

What do you enjoy doing when you're not at The Avery Center?

When I'm not working I love to cook and read all types of books.
